Proficiency Examination

Departments may offer a group of students an opportunity to take an examination for credit or requires an examination for initial placement in a course or course sequence, the credits received are described as "credits by undergraduate proficiency examination" (policy 42-50.2).

• Exempted course(s) are recorded on the students transcript with a grade symbol of "S."
• Courses will not be included in the grade-point average calculation.
• The student must demonstrate competency at least equivalent to a C grade.
• The student must not have been awarded credit for the course or previously failed it.
