Credit Waiver (HW)
This action allows the waiver of credits within a subrequirement.
You will use an HW code whenever there is a required course that has a higher
credit value than the course being used for the substitution. For example,
BIOL 110 is a required 4.0-credit course, and a 3.0-credit BIOL transfer course
is being accepted as a substitution. In this case, the subrequirement will
have a 1.0 credit deficit. By entering an HW to waive the 1.0 credit, all credits
for BIOL 110 will be accounted for in the subrequirement.
Step 1: Fill in the required fields:
- Credits Waived - enter the number of credits to be waived.
- Subrequirement Title - choose the title of the subrequirement where the credits are being waived. The title line of the subrequirement is displayed in this field.
Step 2: Fill in the optional fields, if desired:
- Remove Degree/Major Restriction - when an exception is entered, it only applies to the program on which it was entered. By checking this box, the specific program information will be removed from the exception.
- Date Authorized - defaults to the current date. This is an updateable field so the date can be changed if needed.
- Notes: (Not displayed on audit) - text field for comments about the exception (150 characters). Anyone viewing the exception can see these notes. This field is NOT displayed on the audit.
Step 3: Save the exception:
Select "Submit Changes."
Additional Field:
- Message Displayed on Audit - this is
a preset message that will display on the audit (Credits Waived: 3.0) in
the subrequirement where the exception is being applied. This field is not updateable.
Confirmation message will display that exception was added.
Step 4: Scroll down to the end of the page to:
- Enter another exception for this student - select "Back to Exception List."
- Add another exception for this student but in a different program - select "Back to Program List."
- Enter an exception for a different student - select "Choose New Student."
- To request a degree audit for this student - select the ERISDN link in the left-frame menu.
