Delete Course from Subrequirement (DE)
This action allows a course to be deleted from the list of
acceptable course choices within a subrequirement. For example, if you have
a course falling into one subrequirement and you want it to fall further down
the audit to a subrequirement that processes after the first one, you would
use the DE code to remove the course from the acceptable course list in the
first subrequirement. This action will permit that course to fall past the
first subrequirement to the next acceptable area or to another subrequirement,
which you specify. Often times, if you delete (DE) a course from one subrequirement,
you will have to specify the new subrequirement by using another exception
type (AD, CP, EX, CS). If you attempt to use the DE code and the course does
not move for you, recheck your entry for possible errors. If you are confident
your entry is correct, use the DL exception type (instead of the DE) to delete the course.
Step 1: Fill in the required fields:
- Course to Delete from Subrequirement - enter the course
abbreviation and number of the course to be added in the Name and Number fields.
- Subrequirement Title - choose the title of the subrequirement where the
course is to be deleted. The title line of the subrequirement is displayed
in this field.
Step 2: Fill in the optional fields, if desired:
- Remove Degree/Major Restriction - when an exception is entered, it only applies to the program on which it was entered. By checking this box, the specific program information will be removed from the exception.
- Message Displayed on Audit - describe
the exception (27 characters). This message will also be displayed on the
view/modify exception screen and on the audit in the subrequirement where
the exception is being applied.
- Date Authorized - defaults to the current date. This is an updateable field so the date can be changed if needed.
- Notes: (Not displayed on audit) - text field for comments about the exception
(150 characters). Anyone viewing the exception can see the notes. This
field is NOT displayed on the audit.
- Date Range - enter the date range of the course that
is to be deleted (ex: if the course was taken in the spring 2004 semester,
SP2004 is entered in the first field and SP2004 is entered in the second
field).
Step 3: Save the exception:
Confirmation message will display that exception was added.
Step 4: Scroll down to the end of the page to:
- Enter another exception for this student - select "Back to Exception List."
- Add another exception for this student but in a different program - select "Back to Program List."
- Enter an exception for a different student - select "Choose
New Student."
- Request a degree audit for this student - select the ERISDN link
in the left-frame menu.
