Course for Non-Specified Course Substitution (CP)
This action allows a course that a student has taken to substitute
for a course from a list of acceptable choices without specifying a particular
course. Think of this substitution type as adding a course to a particular
area (or title) and not a direct course-for-course substitution. When using
the CP code, the audit will only take one occurrence of a course if the student
has taken a course more than once. This is different from an AD code, which
will take all occurrences of a course up to the subrequirement credit limit.
Step 1: Fill in the required fields:
- Course Taken By Student - enter the course abbreviation
and number of the course taken by the student in the Name and Number fields.
- Subrequirement Title - choose the title of the subrequirement where the
course is to go. The title line of the subrequirement is displayed in this
field.
Step 2: Fill in the optional fields, if desired:
- Message Displayed on Audit - describe the exception (27
characters). This message will also be displayed on the view/modify exception
screen and on the audit in the subrequirement where the exception is being
applied.
- Date Authorized - defaults to the current date. You
can change the date in this field if needed.
- Notes: (Not displayed on audit) - text field for comments about the exception
(150 characters). Anyone viewing the exception can see the notes. This field
is NOT displayed on the audit.
- Semester Taken - enter the semester the course was taken by the student.
This field is only needed if there are two or more occurrences of the course
on the student's academic record.
Step 3: Save the exception:
Confirmation message will display that exception was added.
Step 4: Scroll down to the end of the page to:
- Enter another exception for this student - select "Back
to Exception List."
- Add another exception for this student in a different program - select "Back to Program List."
- Enter an exception for a different student - select "Choose
New Student."
- Request a degree audit for this student - select the ERISDN link in the
left-frame menu.
