At its October 2010 meeting, the Faculty Senate approved a small but significant change to policy 59-00, Requirements for the Minor. The change states that "Requirements for a minor may be completed at any campus location offering the specified courses for the minor." As part of its implementation plan, the Administrative Council for Undergraduate Education recommended the elimination of the paper Entrance to Minor form and associated approval process.
The Office of the University Registrar is pleased to announce a new Minor Declaration function in eLion. Students are permitted to declare a minor using this function and, unless the minor has Faculty Senate approved entrance requirements, the student will be immediately enrolled in the minor. It's important to note that enrollment in a minor does not guarantee enrollment in the courses required to complete the minor. In addition, Senate policy 59-00 also states that "Students may not change from a campus that offers their major to a campus that does not offer their major for the purpose of completing a minor."
For the very small number of minors that have entrance requirements such as audition or a portfolio, the student will need to contact the department offering the minor in order to be approved for enrollment.
