November 13, 2020 -- Given the continual changes that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to bring to our planning processes, we are delaying the publication of the Summer Schedule of Courses in order to have the most complete picture of what Summer 2021 might look like. The university will release more information about the Summer 2021 course modes and schedule as soon as possible.
November 11, 2020 -- Penn State is reimplementing its opt-in alternative grading system for the fall 2020 semester to support and provide flexibility to undergraduate students who may be facing significant challenges academically due to circumstances beyond their control related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
November 5, 2020 -- In preparation for the departure from campuses after in-person instruction ends on Nov. 20, Penn State has announced an aggressive fall departure plan offering all students COVID-19 testing, at no cost to students.
November 3, 2020 -- After a special meeting on Oct. 29, the Penn State Faculty Senate voted to endorse a resolution drafted by student senators requesting the reinstatement of an optional alternative grading system for undergraduate students for the fall 2020 semester.
October 29, 2020 -- To support the mental health and well-being of students, faculty and staff during the spring 2021 semester, Penn State will hold three wellness days on which no classes will be held. The wellness days will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 9, Thursday, March 11 and Wednesday, April 7.

June 15, 2020 -- Beginning June 2020, Penn State is offering new graduates the opportunity to purchase a Certified Electronic Diploma (CeDiploma), in addition to receiving the traditional paper diploma issued after degree conferral. A CeDiploma is available to graduates of the spring 2020 class and forward.
June 14, 2020 -- The fall semester will begin as originally scheduled on Monday, Aug. 24, but campus-based, residential instruction will end Friday, Nov. 20, with the remainder of the semester - including final examinations - being delivered remotely and online when classes resume after Thanksgiving break on Nov. 30.

May 6, 2020 -- Instructions for using the new Alternative Grade Calculator and Request Tool in LionPATH are now available for undergraduates and students enrolled in the Graduate School. While the instructions are available now, the tool will not go live until Wednesday, May 20, after grades are finalized.
April 28, 2020 -- Penn State recently released instructions on how to use the GPA Calculator tool in LionPATH to help undergraduates at the University estimate how decisions on using alternative grades will impact their GPAs. The GPA Calculator is available now for students to explore until May 20, at which time the Alternative Grade Calculator and Request Tool will become available.

April 6, 2020 -- In response to the growing coronavirus pandemic, orders from the state government and recommendations from global public health organizations, Penn State will hold its spring 2020 commencement ceremony via livestream on May 9. The virtual ceremony will recognize all Penn State undergraduate students and all graduate students in the Penn State Graduate School.
April 2, 2020 -- The Graduate School at Penn State is implementing an optional alternative grading system for the spring 2020 semester. The new, opt-in grading system is designed to mitigate the impacts to graduate students' GPAs and academic transcripts due to unprecedented extenuating circumstances posed by the novel coronavirus public health crisis.

March 26, 2019 -- As the end of the spring 2019 semester approaches, instructors are reminded that grades should be recorded no later than two business days after the final exam or final assessment of a course. All grades should be recorded in LionPATH by midnight on May 7. On May 8, the Office of the University Registrar will begin end-of-semester processes, such as final grade reporting, academic standing, and degree conferral.
