ISIS Instructions

Log On to ISIS

  1. Activate your AIS connection.
  2. Type your User ID.
  3. Type your password, press Enter.
  4. At ENTER PRN type the number displayed on your SecurID card, press Enter.
  5. At NET-PASS COMMAND type ACOM or BCOM, press Enter.
  6. At ENTER INPUT enter the letter under the ID column that corresponds to ADMINISTRATIVE MENUS, press Enter.
  • To change your password, enter it at NEW PASSWORD and press Enter.
  • Problems with your connection, contact your computer support person.
  • If you do not have access to either ACOM or BCOM, contact your Access and Security Representative.

Log Off ISIS

  1. Press PF3 to go to the ISIS main menu.
  2. Press FPF4 to go to the Administrative Menus screen.
  3. Press the PF key associated with the log off function.
  4. Type OFF at the Netpass Activity Table.

Navigate in ISIS

You may move to your desired screen one menu at a time, starting from the Student System Master Menu. The menus are made up of letters that indicate component subsystems and applications within those subsystems. "A" will always be the first letter; it denotes the Master Menu.

  1. At SELECTION type the subsystem that you want to use and press Enter.
    (You will continue selecting subsystems until the screen you desire appears.)


Fastpathing is entering the path name that identifies a specific screen.

  1. From the ISIS main menu, tab once to move the cursor to the bottom of the screen. Alternative path: Position the cursor in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
  2. Type the series of letters (screen name), press Enter.
  • You cannot enter a letter at the Selection and use fastpathing.

Using the Asterisk

If you are in a screen that requires a PSU ID and you only know the student's name. you can enter an * in the ID field

  1. Enter an * in the ID field, press Enter. You will automatically go to the AMIA screen (alpha lookup).
  2. Look up the PSU ID using the student's last name.
  3. Enter an x in the SEL column, press Enter.
  4. You will return to the screen you started with and the student's information will appear.

Naming Conventions

Each ISIS screen may be seen by navigating through the Screen Menu System. This approach is useful to users who are not familiar with the ISIS system. Users who are familiar with the ISIS system generally use the unique path name as a short-cut approach to go directly to a particular screen.

Generally speaking the following naming conventions apply:

First letter - A-represents the Academic Information System (ISIS)
Second letter - Represents the major functional system
  • B - Billing and Accounts Receivable
  • F - Student Financial Aid
  • G - Graduate Admission
  • H - Housing
  • L - Student Loans
  • M - University Functions
  • R - Academic Records
  • S - Medical Records
  • U - Undergraduate Admissions
  • W - Law Admission
Third letter - Represents the type of action
  • I - Inquiry only
  • U - Update (watch for inconsistencies, some screens with a U are really inquiry)
Forth, fifth and sixth letters - Used to further identify sub-systems and to uniquely identify the particular screen.

Non-Credit System (NCRR)
The majority of the screens have been designed to support the data requirements of students enrolling in credit courses. Within the system there exists a sub-system that serves the data requirements of students enrolling in non-credit courses. In some cases a credit ISIS screen was cloned to create a non-credit ISIS screen. In other cases, there is no equivalent credit screen for the non-credit screen.

Stewardship Responsibility
Each screen in the system has one associate steward. The steward is responsible for the function of the screen, the data maintained by the screen, and the security access of the screen. The Registrar's office has identified stewardship, at the managerial level, as a contact regarding the operation of each screen.
