Penn State to recognize class of 2020 with virtual commencement ceremony

April 6, 2020 -- In response to the growing coronavirus pandemic, orders from the state government and recommendations from global public health organizations, Penn State will hold its spring 2020 commencement ceremony via livestream on May 9. The virtual ceremony will recognize all Penn State undergraduate students and all graduate students in the Penn State Graduate School.


Graduate School implements optional alternative grading for spring 2020 semester

April 2, 2020 -- The Graduate School at Penn State is implementing an optional alternative grading system for the spring 2020 semester. The new, opt-in grading system is designed to mitigate the impacts to graduate students’ GPAs and academic transcripts due to unprecedented extenuating circumstances posed by the novel coronavirus public health crisis.


Optional alternative grading scale implemented for spring 2020 semester

March 25, 2020 -- Penn State is implementing a new opt-in grading system for the spring 2020 semester that will give students flexibility, help preserve GPAs and minimize impacts to students' transcripts during the academic challenges presented by the novel coronavirus public health crisis.


Changes to official transcript costs to go into effect April 1

March 24, 2020 -- The Office of the University Registrar has announced that the cost of requesting an official transcript will be changing effective April 1, 2020. From that time, official electronic transcripts will cost $5 per transcript set and official paper transcripts will cost $15 per transcript set.

Penn State extends remote course delivery through spring semester

March 18, 2020 -- Based on evolving federal guidance and statewide mitigation plans announced by Gov. Tom Wolf around the growing coronavirus pandemic and the global efforts underway to stop its spread, Penn State has extended the remote-delivery period for all classes through at least the spring semester.


Preparing for fall 2020 course registration

February 17, 2020 -- Fall 2020 course registration opens on March 25, 2020 for undergraduate and graduate students. To help students prepare to register for courses, here is a guide through the registration process along with key dates and resources.


Transcript ordering shutdown period for 2019 Winter Break

December 13, 2019 -- The online Parchment service for transcript ordering will be shut down at 12:00 p.m. (EST) on December 20, 2019. We will work to send any transcript orders received before the shutdown time before the university closes on December 20. We will reactivate the Parchment transcript ordering site when the university opens at 8:00 a.m. (EST) on January 2, 2020. Transcript ordering will not be available from 12:00 p.m. on December 20, 2019 to 8:00 a.m. on January 2, 2020.


LionPATH Update Academics to be unavailable at end of fall 2019 semester

December 13, 2019 -- The LionPATH Update Academics tool will be unavailable from December 20, 2019 - January 7, 2020. If you have extenuating circumstances during that time, please contact the appropriate academic department during their regular business hours.


Summer 2020 Schedule of Courses release date

October 28, 2019 -- The Summer 2020 Schedule of Courses will be published on Nov. 18, 2019. At that time, students will be able to view the complete list of course offerings for the summer 2020 sessions in the LionPATH Class Search or Schedule Builder.


Fall 2019 End of semester transcript order deadline

October 18, 2019 -- Transcript orders with a processing time of "Hold for Grades" and "Hold for Degree" for Fall 2019 must be received by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on December 20, 2019.


Summer 2020 academic calendar update

October 8, 2019 -- A change has been made to the university-wide (undergraduate and graduate) academic calendar for SUMMER 2020 -- the "Independence Day Holiday -- No Classes" will now be on Monday, July 6, 2020.

LionPATH to be unavailable during system upgrade

June 18, 2019 -- LionPATH is undergoing a system upgrade over the July 4th weekend and will be offline from 9:00 a.m. (ET) on Thursday, July 4 through noon (ET) on Sunday, July, 7. Anyone who attempts to log in during that time will be redirected to the LionPATH Support website.


LionPATH announces new features to be included with July 2019 upgrade

May 9, 2019 -- The July 2019 LionPATH system upgrade will bring with it new visual features including "See What the Student Sees" view for faculty and staff, a redesigned student view, and the incorporation of Penn State ID student photos.


2019-20 Edition of the University Bulletins published

May 6, 2019 -- The 2019-20 edition of the University Bulletins is now available. The 2018-19 edition is located in the archive section of the Bulletins website for future reference.

Spring 2019 grade reporting

March 26, 2019 -- As the end of the spring 2019 semester approaches, instructors are reminded that grades should be recorded no later than two business days after the final exam or final assessment of a course. All grades should be recorded in LionPATH by midnight on May 7. On May 8, the Office of the University Registrar will begin end-of-semester processes, such as final grade reporting, academic standing, and degree conferral.
