The Office of the University Registrar will be closed for Winter Break, beginning at 4:30 p.m. (EST) on Dec. 23, 2025. We will reopen at 8:00 a.m. (EST) on Jan. 5, 2026.

Please note: many transcript orders placed via Parchment will be fulfilled automatically, but paper transcript orders, and any orders requiring manual review by Registrar staff, will be processed in the order received when the University reopens on Jan. 5, 2026. Requests for reissued diplomas, minor certificates, and certificates must be received by Dec. 16 in order to be processed before the end of this year.

The Office of the University Registrar provides a variety of services and resources for students to view their academic records, access course registration and degree planning tools, and complete enrollment requirements.

Order a Transcript

An official transcript is the University's certified statement of a student's academic record. Learn how to order an official paper or electronic transcript from Penn State.

Enrollment Verifications

Enrollment verifications provide confirmation of enrollment status, dates of attendance, and degree(s) conferred. Verification is used to confirm this information to insurers, lenders, employers, and other organizations.

Course Registration

Registration is the process by which students enroll in courses for a given semester. Students are encouraged to consult with their academic adviser before completing any registration activity.

Final Exams

Final exams are scheduled every semester by the appropriate campus Registrar's office. If a final exam overload situation exists, a student may request relief from the overload.

Grades

Grades are assigned to students by instructors as a representation of the student's academic achievement. Students can view grades in LionPATH within 48 hours after the final exam or final assessment of a course.

Student Rights Under FERPA

FERPA is a federal regulation enacted in 1974 that protects the privacy and confidentiality of student education records. Under FERPA, institutions may not release a student's education record without prior consent of the student, except in limited circumstances.

Leaving the University

Students may need to interrupt their studies for a variety of reasons (financial, academic, or personal). Before completing the process to leave the University, students should speak with their adviser to understand the full impact of leaving.

Returning to the University

Students on leave who wish to return to Penn State to resume their studies can submit a request to re-enroll at the University. The student's previous enrollment status determines the appropriate process for re-enrollment.

Changes to Personal Information

Requests to change name, Social Security number, gender, ethnicity and race on your academic record must be submitted to the Office of the University Registrar.

Prepare for Graduation

The roadmap through the graduation process begins with filing your intent to graduate once eligible, and is completed after degrees are conferred and diplomas are distributed.
