Web Instruction Mode

April 14, 2022

Good morning,

There seems to be a little confusion about the web instruction mode, so I just wanted to send an email to everyone to hopefully clear up some things. The web instruction mode is supposed to be for classes that meet completely online asynchronously. Meaning the students will never have to be on campus for anything or be scheduled for a certain day/time. World Campus uses the web instruction mode for classes and that is what students associate with web classes. It was suggested that if a class requires the student to be on campus for an exam or some other activity, that it should be listed as one of our hybrid modes, most likely H7 if they're only requiring the student to come to campus for exams.

Listing the class as hybrid would make it clear to students that they will need to be on campus at some point and would schedule their classes appropriately. Since we have so many students take classes at multiple campuses throughout the semester, especially during the summer, listing a class as web when you're going to require them to come to campus for an exam is not advertising the class correctly and results in the students signing up for classes that they think they can take at home or somewhere not near campus.

For a list of our approved instruction modes and definitions, please go to our website.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
